However, Abraham and his wife Sarai became older and older without having a family of their own. The son God promised did not arrive and Sarai became too old to have children. Would God keep His promise? How would Abram have descendants? – Slide 11

Big Idea:

Abraham believed what God promised, and we should too!

Photos for Storytelling:

Free Bible Images has a series of illustrations that can be used to tell the story (http://www.freebibleimages.org/illustrations/abraham-promise/).  You can print off large copies, or put the photos in a PowerPoint presentation.

Sand, Fingers, Time, Beach, Hands

Props for Storytelling:

Compass – (to show God promised all the land, northwards, southward, eastward, westward)

Sand – to try to count

Star stickers – to pass around

Puppets – print and use the Abraham and Sarah puppets for telling the story (template is in the post intro).

Sensory or Movement:

Playdough with star cookie cutters.  Make as many as you can!

Song:

Twinkle, twinkle little star
I can’t count how many there are
But I know that God has planned
That many children for Abraham
Twinkle, twinkle little star
I can’t count how many there are.

Craft:

Tin foil stars.  You will need to precut the stars from aluminum foil ahead of time (template:  https://www.teachersprintables.net/preview/Star_Templates).  Premix the foil paint: for each tablespoon of glue add two drops of food coloring and one drop of liquid dish soap.  Glue the stars onto black construction paper and use the colored glue to paint them.  Glue on the verse of the day (template is in the post intro).

Additional Craft:

Puppet coloring!  Using crayons or markers color precut Abraham and Sarah puppets before gluing them onto popsicle sticks (template is in the post intro).

Snack:

Cheese and bread stars!
