Abraham, who was now one hundred years old, gave his newborn son the name Isaac. Isaac means ‘he laughs’. Abraham lovingly watched his son grow from being a baby into a young boy. – Slide 5

Big Idea:

God keeps His promises, even when it seems to be impossible!

Photos for Storytelling:

Free Bible Images has a series of illustrations that can be used to tell the story (http://www.freebibleimages.org/illustrations/abraham-strangers/ and http://www.freebibleimages.org/illustrations/abraham-isaac/).  You can print off large copies, or put the photos in a PowerPoint presentation.

Props for Storytelling:

Baby doll with blanket – to pass around when talking about baby Isaac.

Puppets – print and use the baby Isaac and angel puppets for telling the story (template is in the post intro).

Sensory or Movement:

Don’t touch the ground!  Lay out a trail of paper plates, for children to jump across.  After going through the trail once, have them do it again, but this time holding a baby!

Song (Fingerplay):

5 little fingers on this hand (hold up 5 fingers)
5 little fingers on that (hold up 5 fingers on the other hand)
A dear little nose (point to nose)
A mouth like a rose (point to mouth)
Two little cheeks so tiny and fat (point to cheeks)
Two eyes and two ears (point to eyes and then ears)
And ten little toes (point to toes)
That is the way baby Isaac grows.

Craft:

Baby Isaac in a blanket.  Use this template (babyIsaac template by Karen P) for baby Isaac (print and precut).  Have the children draw in baby Isaac’s face.  Glue down a square piece of cloth (having the glue just going down the middle so that the sides can open and shut to swaddle Isaac).  Glue baby Isaac down the middle and glue the verse at the bottom.

Additional Craft:

Puppet coloring!  Using crayons or markers color precut angels and Isaac puppets before gluing them onto popsicle sticks (template is in the post intro).

Snack:

Baby Isaac!  Banana baby with fruit roll up blanket in muffin wrap.
