Photos for Storytelling:
Free Bible Images has a series of illustrations that can be used to tell the story of the burning bush http://www.freebibleimages.org. You can print off large copies, or put the photos in a PowerPoint presentation. (We did a post on ideas for using the free Bible images website.)
Props for Storytelling:
Burning bush – make a “fire” with a small fan and red and orange cellophane.
Fake snake – to turn into a rod.
Plastic medical glove – put over hand to make it look white and leprous.
Puppets – print and use Moses and burning bush puppets for telling the story (template is in the post intro).
Sensory or Movement:
Make leaf prints in playdough and talk about how the burning bush leaves were not burned.
Song (Fingerplay):
Moses saw (make binoculars with fingers)
That the bush (squat down and grow like a bush)
Was on fire (wriggle fingers as though they were fire)
But it didn’t burn up (shake head no)
Exodus 3 (hold up three fingers)
Verse 2 (hold up 2 fingers)
Craft:
Have kids color and glue precut bush (bush template) onto paper. Using either red/orange/yellow washable paint or a stamp pad have the kids thumbprint “fire” onto the bush. Glue verse on the bottom.
Additional Craft:
Puppet coloring! Using crayons or markers color precut Moses and the burning bush puppets before gluing them onto popsicle sticks (template is in the post intro).
Snack:
Popcorn sheep!
