If we really think about who God is, and who we are, and that God has not tossed us out but instead offered us reconciliation, we may be more inclined to use love as an action word rather than a reactive feeling.
Our love to others might then be more patient and willing to wait. It might do what it can to be useful with a willing hand and cheerfully. It might be happy for others when they are doing well. It might not be so hasty in its opinions and reactions. It might be willing to yield to others. It might be more respectful and caring of others, and seek their well- being. It might be slow to speak and slow to anger. It might be willing to forgive instead of becoming resentful. It might not always be suspecting others of evil, but instead believe that they are doing their best to do right too. It might never give up.
