The Heart - 200 Points

T H I N K   ON   T H I S :

“Paul’s object was not to  state inspiration but to underscore its consquences. If the Revisers are to be trusted he is saying, not, “Scripture is inspired and profitable”, but “Scripture being inspired, is therefore profitable”. God-breathed Scripture is filled with life breathed into it by God, and therefore is meant to be put to use, for teaching (didaskalia, providing the substance of what is taught); for reproof (elegkhos, providing the evidence on the basis of which people can be put to rights), for corrrection (epanorthosis, literally restoring to an upright position), and for instruction (paideia, the disciplined upbringing of children)… All in all, Timothy must learn that from childhood he had been prepared for the task before him, and that now is the time to resume the full exploitation of what he had learned.”
