Big Idea:

God wants us to trust Him, even when we need to do hard things that we don’t understand.

Photos for Storytelling:

Free Bible Images has a series of illustrations that can be used to tell the story (http://www.freebibleimages.org/illustrations/abraham-strangers/ and http://www.freebibleimages.org/illustrations/abraham-isaac/).  You can print off large copies, or put the photos in a PowerPoint presentation.

Props for Storytelling:

Wood, knife, and rope – to show what Abraham was asked to do.

Puppets – print and use the Abraham and Sarah puppets for telling the story (template is in the post intro).

Sensory or Movement:

Sensory bin.  Make a sensory bin with rocks, cotton balls, spoons and scoops, tweezers or clothespins.

Song:

Trust in the Lord  This song is available from singtheword.com (Sing The Word from A to Z Sheet Music Downloads).  You can get the piano score for $0.95, or you can buy their cd.  I tried to look for a comparable free version, but couldn’t find any that is as nice as this one 🙂

Craft:

Thumbprint sheep.  Put white paint onto paper plates and have children make thumbprint sheep bodies.  Afterwards glue on rectangles for legs and ovals for the head and ears, and googly eyes.  Glue the verse of the day at the end (template is in the post intro).

Additional Craft:

Puppet coloring!  Using crayons or markers color precut Isaac and the ram puppets before gluing them onto popsicle sticks (template is in the post intro).

Snack:

Graham cracker altar … topped with spreadable cheese, pretzel wood, and popcorn sheep!
